1. Olive Oil And Egg

The combination of olive oil with egg yolk is excellent for treating dry skin. Olive oil contains vitamin E and K, plus a lot of antioxidants; egg yolk for its part contains vitamin A, which helps to give softness to the skin.

Ingredients:

  • Olive Oil
  • Egg

For this treatment you require:

  1. two tablespoons of olive oil mixed with two egg yolks and half a tablespoon of lemon juice or rosewater.
  2. With the help of a cotton ball apply this mixture all over the face and neck.
  3. Let it act for twenty minutes and then remove with warm water. You’ll notice the difference the moment you wash off the mask.

2. Lemon Juice And Sugar

The mixture of these two products is ideal for removing dead skin cells. Thus the skin will be very soft. Lemon is excellent an astringent and contains vitamin C, it helps to clarify the skin tone and helps increase cell growth, so it is very beneficial to give softness to the skin.

Ingredients:

  • Lemon
  • Sugar

How to prepare and use:

  1. Mix a little lemon juice and a tablespoon or two of sugar to make an exfoliation for the skin.
  2. Apply the exfoliation with gentle massage in circular motions, for ten to fifteen minutes.
  3. Then rinse with warm water.

3. Almond Oil

Almond oil is an emollient, which is rich in vitamin E. It’s ideal for lubricating dry skin. And the best thing about this oil is that it is not greasy and the skin absorbs it very easily, which keeps the skin well hydrated thus, avoiding it drying out.

Ingredients:

  • Almond Oil
  • Warm water

To use, simply:

  1. Massage it gently onto the facial skin for at least 10 minutes.
  2. Let it sit on the skin for a further 10 minutes
  3. Rinse with warm water.

4. Castor Oil

Castor oil creates a protective barrier on the skin which helps prevent things like: soap, hot water and the dry winter air (that can greatly damage the skin) from drying out. It is a natural astringent that’s great for helping remove impurities from the skin, and it is also great for moisturizing too.

Ingredients: 

  • Castor oil
  • Warm water

Simple to apply:

  1. It should take a short massage in the driest areas of the skin.
  2. And gently massage to remove in the same way with warm water.

5. Coconut Oil

With the help of coconut oil, scaly skin that occurs when skin is really dry can easily be removed, leaving your skin feeling; much softer and smoother.

Ingredients:

  • Coconut oil
  • Time

For a very lush appearance:

  1. Apply moist/wet coconut old to the dry skin.
  2. Leave it on overnight.
  3. Rinse the next morning.

Using coconut oil every night you will see great results in a short period of time, achieving very smooth skin.

6. Jojoba Oil

jojoba oil’s structure is almost a replica of the natural body oil that comes from the skin (sebum). Which makes this oil a perfect moisturizer for all skin types. Jojoba oil also contains anti-inflammatory properties which helps to soothe the skin.

Ingredients: 

  • A clean wash cloth.
  • 1/2 tsp jojoba oil
  • 3 cups of warm water

How to Use:

  1. To begin place your clean wash cloth in the warm water to soak.
  2. Place the wet wash cloth over your face and leave it on for approx. 5 minutes then remove.
  3. Gently massage the jojoba oil onto the skin using circular movements for approx. 10 minutes.
  4. Leave the jojoba oil on the skin to absorb and wipe off excess oil using your wash cloth.

For best results, repeat on to two times per week.

Cautionary note:

When using the remedy above, be sure the water is not too hot so you don’t scald/burn the skin.

7. Sour Cream And Gram Flour

When the skin gets too dry, the skin starts to become flaky. Sour cream contains lactic acid which when applied to the skin, it helps gently exfoliate to remove the dead skin cells. At the same time it also moisturizes the skin and makes it supple and smooth. 

Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp of sour cream
  • 3 tbsp of gram flour

How to prepare and use:

  1. Make a paste by adding some sour cream to your gram flour.
  2. Apply the mask to thoroughly cleansed face.
  3. Leave mask on for approx. 20 minutes.
  4. Rinse mask off with cold water.

This mask can be used to treat dry skin every other day.

8. Oatmeal And Honey

Oatmeal has anti-inflammatory properties and also antioxidants. They both help deal with symptoms dry skin can cause. This makes oatmeal a really useful ingredient for preparing your own dry skin home remedies.

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp Oatmeal
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1/4 cup of milk

How to prepare mask and use:

  1. First, put your milk in a saucepan and heat-up.
  2. Put your oatmeal into a bowl. Then, add your warm milk.
  3. Before adding the honey to the mixture, wait a few minutes. Then add the honey to mixture.
  4. Apply the mask you’ve made to the face.
  5. Leave on approx. 20 minutes.
  6. Rinse off with some cold water.

This face mask is best used one to two times per week.

9. Banana And Coconut

Because of the moisturizing properties found in banana, it can provide instant relief from dry skin. Also the level of fats being high in coconut oil help to condition the skin deeply. Which leaves the skin soft and moisturized.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 ripened banana
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil

How to prepare and use:

  1. With the back of a spoon, mash up your banana.
  2. Add coconut oil in and stir to form smooth textured paste.
  3. Apply paste to face.
  4. Leave on for approx. 20 mins.
  5. Rinse off with cold water.

Another tip for you: 

If you eat a banana everyday, or a few times a week, instead of throwing away the peel, keep it. You can use the peel to rub onto cracked heels. You’ll need to be patient, but if you do this repeatedly over a few weeks, you may be surprised at how soft the heels become.

10. Avocado And Honey Rejuvenating Mask

Avocado is a great source of Vitamin A and E, which helps maintain the skin’s good quality. It’s also crammed with natural oils which are able to moisturize the skin. 

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 an avocado
  • 1/4 cup of honey

How to prepare and use:

  1. Place your peeled avocado in a bowl and pulp it. (Be sure that you have got rid of any large lumps.)
  2. Add your honey to the pulped avocado and mix it, till it’s smooth.
  3. Apply mask to face.
  4. Leave on approx. 15 minutes.
  5. Was off with warm water

This mask is best used one to two times per week.

11. Yogurt Gentle Scrub

You have to be careful with dry skin as it is very sensitive. Therefore using abrasive scrubs can in-fact make the skin worse for wear. If the skin is really dry, it’s best to use a moisturizing scrub which helps remove dead skin cells, that’s also gentle on the skin. That makes this remedy great, as yogurt consists of lactic acid which helps exfoliate and treat dry skin conditions. And, the sugar helps to remove scaliness, whilst the honey re-hydrates the skin.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 pot of yogurt (has to be plain)
  • 3 tbsp of granulated sugar
  • 3 tsp of honey

How to prepare and use:

  1. Add yogurt and honey to a bowl and mix well until combined.
  2. Pour your granulated sugar into the the mix.
  3. Apply scrub to face and gently massage using circular movements for approx. 5 minutes.
  4. Leave scrub on approx. another 5 minutes.
  5. Wash off cold water.

This scrub is best used once per week.

12. Moisturizing Egg Mix

This mask is a bit of an extravagant one due to the plethora of contents included in the mixture. Because eggs are a great source of protein it makes them a great addition to any mask/scrub or home remedy for skin care. The orange will help to get rid of blemishes due to the vitamins C’s presence. The other ingredients: Honey, castor oil and olive oil are all well known for their moisturizing effect they have on the skin. This mask will certainly help get rid of dry skin and at the same time make your skin soft and supple.

Ingredients:

  • An egg
  • a tsp Olive Oil
  • a tsp  Castor Oil
  • 1 tbsp Orange Juice
  • a tbsp Honey
  • 1 tsp Lime Juice
  • 1 tsp rosewater

How to prepare and use:

  1. Crack an egg into a bowl and separate yolk and scoop into additional bowl/container.
  2. Add other ingredients to egg yolk  and mix into the egg yolk well.
  3. Apply mixture before having a bath.
  4. Leave on for approx. 10 minutes.
  5. Rinse off with clean warm water.

For best results use daily before you get in the bath.

13. Mango Face Mask

This mask is ideal for dry/flaky skin because of the mango being rich in Vitamin A; which helps to hydrate and moisturize. Due to properties found in honey it is nourishing, whilst olive oil has a great moisturizing effect on dry skin.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripened mango
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 3 tsp olive oil

How to prepare and use:

  1. Peel your mango and separate from the seed.
  2. Pulp the mango in a mixer until it’s mush.
  3. Add honey to the mango mush.
  4. Add the olive oil to mixture and stir vigorously to make a smooth paste.
  5. Apply mask to face.
  6. Leave for approx. 1 hour.
  7. Rinse thoroughly.

For a glowing, well moisturized appearance, it’s best to apply this face mask three to four times per week.

14. Chocolate

Who would have thought (Chocolate) one of the worlds most popular confectioneries would have skin care benefits. Applying Liquefied chocolate with other ingredients to skin that’s dry makes it soft and glow.

Ingredients:

  • 5 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 5 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp pulped avocado
  • 2 tbsp maize flour

How to prepare and use:

  1. Thoroughly mix all ingredients together to form a smooth textured paste.
  2. Apply mask to dry skin.
  3. Leave on the skin approx. 30 minutes.
  4. Use lukewarm water to rinse off.

For best results use daily before you bath.

15. Gram Flour And Lime Pack

Due to the humectant (that’s known to prevent water loss from the skin) found in gram flour, makes gram flour great for hydrating dry skin. Whilst the Vitamin C present in the Lime helps fight off blemishes. In addition, the milk and honey, they too also have nourishing properties. This makes the gram flour and lime pack an effective way to hydrate and soften the skin.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp Gram Flour
  • a tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1/2 a cup of milk

How to prepare and use:

  1. Make a smooth paste by mixing all ingredients together .
  2. Apply the paste to dry skin.
  3. Leave Paste of the face until it’s dry.
  4. Wash face with warm water to remove.

For best results include this pack daily in your skin care routine.

16. A Slice Of Lime And Mustard Oil

Unlike the other remedies, this one seems a bit more peculiar. However, the combination of mustard oil and lime juice work really well together to exfoliate areas of dry skin. Using it regularly on the soles of the feet will make them soft and supple.

Ingredients:

  • Sliced Lime
  • mustard oil

How to use:

  1. Simply slice the lime and dip it into your mustard oil.
  2. Rub over hardens areas of skin (like the soles of your feet.)
  3. And massage in.

If the skin is very hard, use daily until skin is soft. Once skin is soft, it might be worth applying coconut oil before you put your socks on in the morning. That will keep your feet soft and hydrated.

17. Vitamin E Oil

Vitamin E oil is used to help restore moisture to excessively dry ares of the skin. As it is a rich source of antioxidants, therefore it also helps clear skin too. Furthermore, Vitamin E oil helps with a number of other skin problems too, such as; aging skin, and eczema.

Ingredients:

  • Vitamin E oil

How to use:

  1. Apply Vitamin E oil to dry skin. (It’s probably best to apply before bed, due to the greasiness of the oil.)
  2. Wash off when you get up the next morning.

Use as you need until problem goes away. For best results apply a body/face scrub that’s made with honey.

18. Glycerine And Rose Water

You may be surprised by the benefits you can get from Glycerine. It’s not only great for treating ares of dry skin, but also chapped lips too.

Ingredients:

  • Glycerine
  • Rose water

How to use:

  1. Mix some glycerine with some rose water.
  2. Apply to itchy and dry ares of skin.

Use this as and when needed.

19. Almond Oil And Geranium

Although mentioned before; Almond oil also mixes well with essential oils; such as Geranium for example. Whilst the Almond oil moisturizes and makes the skin soft and supple, the Geranium oil has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties which are used frequently in skin care. It’s also great for treating conditions such as eczema.

Ingredients:

  • 20 ml of sweet almond oil
  • 2 or 3 drops of geranium essential oil

How to prepare and use:

  1. Get a sterilized bottle and transfer your sweet almond oil into it.
  2. Add 2 to 3 drops of geranium essential oil to the bottle and shake vigorously.
  3. Include mixture in skin care routine instead of the moisturizer you currently use.

For best result, use daily in place of your daily moisturizer after cleansing.

20. Milk

And last of all, Just as yogurt, (which is made from milk) milk too can be used to help fight dry skin problems. Therefore, it is another effective home remedy for dry skin.

Ingredients:

  • Milk

How to use:

  1. Boil the milk until it is thick and the quantity has reduced.
  2. Let milk cool and apply to dry skin. (If dry skin problem is only in certain areas, the milk can be applied to those parts only.)
  3. Let paste dry completely.
  4. Rinse off thoroughly.

use this remedy as and when required until problem ceases.
